Scope: This document contains the Collegiate Times official privacy policy, which describes in detail our common practices in regards to Internet communications.
Information Collection and Use
The Collegiate Times collects personal information whenever you register with any of our live services. This includes, but is not restricted to: headline emails, comment posting and forum membership.
The Collegiate Times may use cookies or other user cache technologies to enhance our user's experience.
The Collegiate Times servers automatically log information. This includes, but is not restricted to: user Internet Protocol addresses, browser type, location, language, date, time, and length of visit data.
The Collegiate Times responds to all court order, subpoenas and legal processes. Any illegal use of the Collegiate Times systems can result in federal prosecution.
The Collegiate Times displays targeted advertisements, based upon personal information at the bottom of most content. Typically only user location, date and time are used in this instance.
External Address: This policy only applies to URLs under the direct control of the Collegiate Times and is not inclusive of second and third party websites.
Information Distribution
The Collegiate Times will never share your information outside of the Educational Media Company at Virginia Tech unless:
( a ) You have requested this action.
( b ) Illegal activities, a court subpoena, or legal process has caused us to release this information.
( c ) The Collegiate Times may use personal information you provide online to contact you for stories, clarification, or comment.
