Dorian Finney-Smith, five-star and No. 15 overall ranked player in the class of 2011 committed to Virginia Tech on Monday. He is the highest rated recruit since Greenberg took over the Hokies’ job in 2003. According to ESPN, Finney-Smith said, “I chose Virginia Tech because Coach Greenberg recruited me himself.” He added, “Plus, I wanted to win a national championship in my home state.”
JT Thompson Out for Season
According to a press release, Virginia Tech senior forward JT Thompson has suffered a grade-3 ACL tear and will miss the entire upcoming basketball season. The injury occurred in a Monday afternoon pick-up basketball game. He is scheduled to have surgery Tuesday morning.
Men’s basketball schedule released
The 2010-2011 men’s basketball schedule has been released today by the Virginia Tech athletics department. According to a press release, fifteen regular season nationally-televised games, a trip to the Bahamas, plus eight home Atlantic Coast Conference contests, highlight the 2010-11 Virginia Tech men’s basketball schedule.
New Nike jersey to be unveiled Sept. 1
A new Nike jersey will premiere Wednesday, September 1st and will be available to purchase at 10am. The jersey is rumored to be black and orange and will be worn by the team when they face off against Boise St. on Labor Day.
