BOV appoints student representative Meg Miller, CT News Reporter April 24 2007 According to a press release, Board of Visitors appointed Brennan Shepard and Ryan C. Smith as their student representatives for the 2007-2008 school year. Shepard was appointed graduate student representative and Smith was appointed undergraduate student representative, each for a one-year term. Shepard, who earned his bachelors degree in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech, is an MBA candidate in the Pamplin College of Business, with a concentration on organizational leadership. He also served as a legislative assistant in the Virginia Legislature during the 2002-03 legislative sessions. Smith, who is a psychology, political science, and sociology triple major in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, is a member of the Student Government Association. He also serves as a co-director of constituent outreach and plans to graduate in the spring with honors. Both representatives will sit on a committee of the governing board and serve as ex-officio members on the Commission of Student Affairs. They are required to maintain contact with university faculty and administrators, the Office of the President and the Office of the Provost, as well as Virginia Tech students. The two representatives are also nonvoting members who will communicate student issues and perspectives to the board, report to student body and serve on task force and search committees. | ||
