Cho Seung-Hui timeline CT Staff Thursday, April 19 2007 January 18, 1984 Cho Seung-Hui is born in South Korea. 1992 Emigrates with his family to Centreville. He would eventually enroll and graduate from Westfield High School. According to NBC News, Cho's parents owned a dry cleaning business. His sister graduated from Princeton with an economics degree in 2004. December 2005 Cho comes to the attention of Virginia Tech police due to complaints by two female students that Cho was stalking them. On the second incident, Cho is admitted to Carilion St. Alban's Behavioral Health Center in Radford. He was admitted under a temporary detention order, under which the admitted is "mentally ill and in need of hospitalization or treatment" and "an imminent danger to himself or others." He is released shortly thereafter. April 7, 2007 Cho receives a speeding ticket, driving 44 mph in a 25 mph zone. His court hearing is scheduled for May 23. Monday, April 16 7:15 a.m. Cho enters West Ambler-Johnston Hall, shooting senior Ryan "Stack" Clark and freshman Emily Hilscher. 9:01 a.m. Cho mails NBC news 43 photographs, 27 videos, one audio clip and a 1,800-word manifesto. The package arrives at NBC on Wednesday because Cho made several errors in addressing the envelope. NBC turns over contents to federal authorities while investigating their copy of the material. Blacksburg mail clerk told federal authorities that he only mailed the single package. Approximately 9:15 Cho begins firing inside Norris Hall. Approximately 9:45 Police respond to Norris Hall where they find the doors barricaded. Once inside, the gunshots stop and the gunman is found dead. 9:55 a.m. Virginia Tech notifies the community of the scene in Norris Hall. | ||
