Parking Services affected by Monday's massacre Timothy Tutt, CT Web Developer Thursday, April 19 2007 The horrendous events of this past Monday, April 16th, have caused tremendous amounts of havoc around the campus of Virginia Tech. Many students have already left campus; however, a number of students and visitors are either still at Tech or making their ways to campus. This event brings up the issue of how Parking Services is affected by Monday's events. Richard McCoy, Parking Manager of Parking Services, stated that Parking Services was of course "devastated by the loss·" but they have also been affected a great deal over the past few days. Parking Services has been working with the police department, FBI, and other organizations to help in anyway that they can this week. This also included assisting with the President's arrival on Tuesday, April 17. The department assisted with blocking of streets and parking lots, and providing space for the media and others on Tuesday. McCoy stated that all resources were out on the streets that day. The need for visitor's passes for this week has been lifted due to the number of visitors, media and others that are on campus this week. Any late fees incurred this week as a result of parking passes will be waived due to the tragic events that occurred earlier this week. Parking Services has done everything they can to assist with the university's parking issues. | ||
